About Galaxias Photography’s active photographer… I was born in South Africa in 1972 and studied Digital Electronics at Technikon Pretoria from 1992 to 2000. In 2010 I Studied Project Management at Varsity College.
I have been taking photos as a hobby since I can remember. My first camera was a small Kodak film camera. As time progressed my camera became better and my skill in photography grew, then when I started working as a Electronic Engineer I could afford a decent camera and got my first bridge camera… a Canon bridge camera.
My career opened doors that allowed me to travel and meet people of different cultures and different countries. It also gave me the opportunity to capture their life stories. All this time I did not realise that I was creating the stage that would form my future business… photography.
Family and friends asked me to be the photographer at their personal events, family photo shoots, weddings, I even took photos of new-borns.
Time passed and a lot of water flowed under the bridge…
In 2013, I realised that to up my game I needed to do some photography courses, so I did several international online courses. I also joined a photography club, which gave me exposure to various photography styles and genre. I am still a member of this club and where club events are often workshops, covering a variety of topics. Set subjects force members to go out and be creative. At club evenings, members enter their photos to be judged, basically an internal competition and grading (inbetween all of this upgraded to a Nikon DSLR camera).
Then out of the blue came the big ahaaaaaa moment… what if I could take something I love, and make a business of it?
My vision is to capture life’s moments while life is still happening. To create memories that will last. To be creative and enjoy life and capturing it.
Join me in capturing life as it happens, every day…
